[BP] Nvidia nForce based Fujitsu PCs

Hello,
I've got some problems while actualizing my WDS master clients with the NIC drivers. Now I've got it and here are my best practices (for Windows XP):

  • Install the PC with the related Fujitsu Twinload CD.
  • Download and extract the topical nForce driver package and the topical display drivers from the Nvidia website.
Important notice: The Nvidia version numbering system is not backward compatible. E.g. at the moment nForce 630i for Windows XP has the topical nForce package 15.45. But you can not use the nForce package 15.46 you can get for newer chipsets.
  • For extraction start the exe files from command prompt with option /extract. Copy the folders from the extracted nForce package to C:\OEMDRV (except the folder called display). You don't need the content of the root. For the files of the extracted display driver package create a new folder under C:\OEMDRV.
  • Rename the folder names to the next numbers following the still existing folders. Maximum number is 200.
  • Got to Control Panel -> Software and remove (uninstall) all Nvidia driver packages. But don't restart the PC now!
  • Got to C:\OEMDRV and delete all old default folders which are contanining Nvidia drivers. The list you can find at OEMDRV.txt. Leave the new folders.
  • Now restart the PCs and let install the drivers automatically. Check if all Nvidia hardware devices gots a driver. If not, actualize the drivers from the device entry automatically.
  • Check the driver versions. All Nvidia hardware now should have the topical versions of the nForce and the Display packages. Look at the two Nvidia network devices. These devices have to have the same driver version!

Bye Martin
